On 3/7/26 we had a teacher workshop, through our Noyce grant, where at WIU.
At the workshop, I asked the participants (who were all Noyce Scholars) *what matters* in the classroom? Answers involve student, and teacher, attitudes and behaviors.
Answers given:
- Growth Mindset
- Safety and support – Teamwork
- Respectful and Responsible
- Actually knowing something (& PS and more) – standards
- Expectations and assessment
- Students care
- Need to explore
- Not learning from screens.
- Teachers need to care.
- Positivity
- No phones
